Ecotourism

    WHAT IS ECOTOURISM?

Ecotourism has proven to be one of the most effective tools for
long-term conservation of biodiversity and cultural heritage. It
includes local and indigenous communities in its planning,
development, and operation by creating jobs and sustaining local
economies while protecting the ecosystem in which it operates.
The promotion of public awareness and education in order to
insure the continuation of indigenous wildlife and flora is key in
    promoting responsible tourism.

The need for ecotourism has evolved because people have a
natural propensity to disregard environmental and ecological
considerations when in pursuit of their individual pleasures.  Little
regard is extended to the land itself or to the preservation of the
environment or ecological and conservation considerations for
    future generations.

At S.W.A.W.P.R.I. we support and promote eco-tourism where the
visiting public and wildlife and flora can exist in harmony.  Today
the habitats of wildlife are being systematically diminished through
the encroachment of humans.  Our goal is to conserve biological
(and cultural) diversity, by strengthening and increasing the value
    of sound ecosystems.

    ECOTOURISM ON S.W.A.W.P.R.I

S.W.A.W.P.R.I. provides a vast landscape over which people can
recreate responsibly and learn, first hand, the values of
appreciation and propagation of nature on our earth.  Abuse of
land, ecological, conservation, and environmental requirements
are closely controlled by SWAWPRI.  We have formulated explicit
rules to protect against any transgressions.  Travel about the
property must be on designated roads and trails and is most
usually under the supervision of a staff guide.  Wildlife, fauna, and
flora, are not destroyed, damaged, or interfered with.  The
conservation of water is paramount to all and is a valued
    commodity.

Leave the hustling and crowded world behind.  Enjoy wide open
spaces, have space to relax and be at peace.  You can realize
your nature aspirations with SWAWPRI in a real "African Setting",
commune with nature in the wild and live in a healthy and secure
environment.  A WORD OF CAUTION:  Luxury hotels and
accommodations do not exist on SWAWPRI and we do not operate
a zoo.  You live on well maintained camp sites, with Brie (Bar-B-
Que) pits, modern rest rooms and shower facilities.  We offer a
variety of other amenities as well.  REMEMBER, you are here to
experience Africa.  It is not necessary for you to defray the
expense of traveling to Africa to stay in a luxury hotel and be
shepherded around every day.  SEE AND DO FOR YOURSELF
AND TAKE HOME AN EXPERIENCE OF A LIFE TIME.

    RATES

With SWAWPRI, your costs are minimal and your returns are
astronomical.  Our rates are 120 RAND per night per vehicle,
regardless of the number of occupants (other local attractions
charge per vehicle plus each occupant plus parking, etc.)  Our
charges are for cars and bakkies (trucks).  Tour Buses and others
are available on request or on arrival.  Guided tours are 20 RAND
per person.  Restaurant, trading post, and meeting pavilion costs
are separate. Only US Dollars, Namibian Dollars, South African
Rand and Euros are accepted.  Other currencies are subject to a
20% charge for bank currency transfer, conversion, commissions
and V.A.T. Tax.  Our tariffs and scheduled rates are the least
expensive of all the places you may visit.  WE DO NOT ACCEPT
    CHECKS OR CREDIT CARDS.

All costs associated with your trip to SWAWPRI are considered to
be donations or contributions for all activities and are considerably
less than surrounding places.  A receipt stating this will be given to
    you for tax purposes.
